I suppose the word "dramatically" is the operative one in that statement, because TZ quite obviously delved into important social problems. And glad to see two of my favorite episodes included: Nick of Time and The Monsters are Due on Maple Street. There are also some excellent interviews with Serling that can be found on YouTube. mjr256https://www.blogger.com/profile/18300278269121033329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15005476.post-89514026659133407012012-12-31T10:07:33.528-05:002012-12-31T10:07:33.528-05:00Nice to know you're a Twilight Zone fan, Micha...Nice to know you're a Twilight Zone fan, Michael! And I did not know it was streaming on Netflix. It is telling how eerie and interesting filmmakers of previous ages could be without showering their sets in liters of fake blood.

A friend of mine was slightly perturbed, however, when I sang its praises on Facebook. He thought that I had grown devoted to the works of Stephenie Meyer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15005476.post-47812627603955460352012-12-27T19:48:38.361-05:002012-12-27T19:48:38.361-05:00Michael, good picks, but on "Willoughby"...Michael, good picks, but on "Willoughby" you missed one thing — in today's America those long hours are back. We cheer as she kills them -- only to find out that the miniature spacemen are from earth and the woman is an alien giant! A good lesson on "point of view" and demonizing the enemy (very relevant today!).

Also "Eye of the Beholder" -- woman is forced to undergo plastic surgery because she is ugly -- we discover at the end that she looks "normal" and it is the doctors who we would call ugly! Again, point of view.

Also "The Masks" -- a rich man's relatives wait for him to die so that they can inherit. He forces them to wear ugly masks while they wait. After he dies, the faces have become permanently molded to the masks! A lesson about greed transforming a person.

Twilight Zone was a terrific show, with a lot of good lessons. Funny, scary, thought provoking, and just plain good.
Tom D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16005219519644708237noreply@blogger.com
